100 % Pinot Noir | 210 cases produced

A blend of two separate vineyards - 50% Petaluma Gap, 50% Russian River. Both lots were vinified 100% whole cluster in stainless steel, and pressed to neutral French oak where they stayed for 10 months. Small S02 additions  (<40ppm total) were made at blending, and the wine was then bottle aged for an additional 18 months.

The Petaluma gap vineyard is tucked up against the east side of the 116. A very windy site that creates thick skinned Pinot Noir that is particularly dense and brooding. The Russian River fruit came from the eastern part of Green Valley sitting approximately 200 feet above sea level on goldridge soils. Both sites are organic and utilize a no till approach.

Bottled unfined, unfiltered. The wine is bottled aged for 18 months.

The year was 2021...

2021 was another very dry year which led to small berries and a high skin to juice ratio. The challenge was not over extracting the wine as the tannin profile potential was very high, while also allowing the characteristics of the vintage to shine through. Originally the sites were going to be kept separate, but after tasting the two side by side it became apparent that they needed each other. The Russian River lot was highly aromatic, and fruit driven, but lacked secondary elements. The Petaluma gap lot was laden with leather and savory elements but read more like mondeuse than Pinot Noir. Together they found love in a not so hopeless place.
