The fruit is pressed whole cluster to stainless steel where it settles for 48 hours before being moved to neutral French oak for primary and secondary fermentation. The wine spends between 10 and 12 months on heavy lees before being racked and bottled. Small addition of S02 before bottling (<40ppm total.)

Filigreen Farm is a biodynamic oasis in the Anderson Valley. Situated just north of Boonville, the farm is subject to cool nights and extended fog coverage through the morning and early afternoon. Because of this, the growing season is long and allows for physiological ripeness to be achieved at much lower sugar levels. The wines we make from this site are typically around 12.5% ABV but have the depth and complexity of 14% ABV wines. We cherish this place and think the world of its caretakers Steph, Chris & Annie.

The wine is beautiful right now with a more fruit driven core. As the wine matures, it develops a bit more of a honied richness along with more secondary mineral elements.

The story of Lover Girl

We were introduced to Filigreen in 2020 when Monica’s childhood friend reached out about having some grapes for sale. This friend was Annie Courtens who at the time was running the vegetable program and heard we were making wine. After our first visit we knew this place was special, and will continue to make wine from this site as long as they will have us!
